Produce Safety Alliance Training

Location: Farmtable Procurement & Delivery – 1901 Hawkeye Ave, Harlan, Iowa 51537
Fruit and vegetable growers and others interested in learning about produce safety, the Food Safety Modernization Act Produce Safety Rule, Good Agricultural Practices, and co-management of natural resources and food safety should attend this training. Over seven hours, the instructors will cover:
• Introduction to Produce Safety
• Worker Health, Hygiene, and Training
• Soil Amendments
• Wildlife, Domesticated Animals, and Land Use
• Agricultural Water (Part 1: Production Water and Part II: Postharvest Water)
• Postharvest Handling and Sanitation
• How to Develop a Farm Food Safety Plan
After completing the entire course, participants will be eligible to receive a certificate from the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) that certifies they have completed the training course. Cost to attend the training is $20 (for Iowa growers; $120 for out-of-state growers), which includes the cost of AFDO Certificate, Course Manual, and Lunch.
The course begins at 8:00 am and will conclude at 5:00 pm.
Training will be held at Farmtable Procurement & Delivery’s warehouse located at 1901 Hawkeye Ave, Harlan, Iowa, IA 51537.
